Fun Activities for Rainy Days

On a rainy day there is nothing worse than being stuck inside with a house full of kids who are stir crazy. In order to keep the house in some semblance of order and the kids entertained every parent needs a list of fun activities and crafts for rainy days. The following ideas will help keep even the wildest child engaged and calm for at least a short period of time.

Bake Something

Almost all kids love dessert and would be more than willing to help bake something sweet like cookies, brownies, or cupcakes. If it is a rainy day or your kids are stuck inside consider baking their favorite dessert. They will love taking part and especially eating their hard work. Remember to make a rule that no dessert will be eaten until the dishes are cleaned up or you might end up with more mess than you started with. You might consider freezing half of what you make or only making a half recipe so you don't have the kids filling up entirely on sweets!

Make Something

You can always pull out some odds and ends and have an art contest. Use fabric, paper, flowers, and other items you find around the house and let your kids get creative. You will be surprised with what they come up with and they will have a lot of fun.

Build Something

One good idea that kids of all ages will love is building a fort! Pull out blankets, pillows, and other soft items and start building. Everyone will have a lot of fun and it will certainly use up some of that extra energy!

These are just a few activities that will occupy any rainy day when you are stuck inside. Be creative and let your kids make up games, too, and you will find yourselves having more fun than you ever imagined.
